Starting point

Anyone can train hard. Knowing what to train is the hard part.

Most athletes who come to us have trained seriously for years. What is missing is not effort. It is the information about where the effort belongs.

  1. 01

    The stopwatch lies

Hand-timed sprints vary by up to 0.24 s. That is more than the difference between a good season and a bad one. Without timing gates you are measuring noise.

  2. 02

Jump height does not tell you why

Two athletes both jump 40 cm. One gets there with a fast, stiff take-off, the other with a long dip. Each needs different training. A tape measure cannot see that difference.

  3. 03

Everything at once means nothing done properly

Strength, speed, endurance and robustness in the same block gives you small gains everywhere over twelve weeks and none where it counts.

  4. 04

Without a retest it stays an opinion

A single test day is a snapshot. Only the second data point, with the same protocol, shows whether the training worked.

Approach

Measure. Interpret. Retest.

Three steps, always in this order, always with the same protocol. That is the whole trick, and the reason the numbers stay comparable over years.

  1. 01

    Measure

As many values as your profile needs.

Force plates, timing gates, isometric strength testing, 3D Body Scan. Which stations we use depends on your sport and profile. Each one follows a fixed sequence, so the next test stays comparable.

  2. 02

    Identify

Focus areas, not a data list.

Your values compared with your sport, your profile and your previous tests. From that we name what comes first, and just as clearly what you can leave alone this year.

  3. 03

    Improve

    Retest with the same protocol.

You keep training on your own or with us. The retest runs the same protocol. If nothing moves, we change the plan, not the expectation.

Performance areas

Six areas that determine your performance.

Which of them we measure for you depends on your sport and profile. We settle that in the initial call. At the retest, the same protocol runs again.

Athlete in the flight phase of a countermovement jump above two force plates in a training hall.

Linear Speed

How quick you are over the first few metres and how fast you are at top speed. Those are two different things and they need different training.

Typical tests
  • 5 to 30 m sprint
  • 20 Yard Dash
  • Flying Sprint
Metrics
Split times · Acceleration · Max Speed · Speed Drop-off

Change of Direction

How quickly you change direction, and whether the time is lost while braking or while accelerating again.

Typical tests
  • 5-10-5
  • L-Drill
  • sport-specific COD setups
Metrics
Total time · Split times · COD Deficit · Re-Acceleration

Explosiveness

How quickly you put force into the ground. Not how high you jump, but how that height comes about.

Typical tests
  • Countermovement Jump
  • Abalakov
  • Drop Jump
  • Broad Jump
Metrics
Jump Height · Peak Power · RSI · Impulse · Takeoff Velocity · Asymmetries

Maximal strength

How much force you can produce at all, measured isometrically and therefore comparable from day to day.

Typical tests
  • Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull
  • Isometric Squat
  • Grip Strength
Metrics
Peak Force · relative Force · Left/Right Balance · Force-time curve

Endurance

How long you can sustain output and how quickly you recover between two efforts.

Typical tests
  • Ramp test
  • Step test
  • Repeated Sprint Ability
  • sport-specific ergometer protocols
Metrics
VO2max · Threshold · Heart rate zones · Performance decline · Recovery

Robustness

Where your body shows differences between left and right, and what shapes how much load you can take. The part of the profile that prevents time out.

Typical tests
  • Single-Leg Tests
  • Mobility Checks
  • 3D Body Scan
Metrics
Asymmetries · Movement range · Segment circumferences · Body composition

Measured on ForceDecks, SmartSpeed Gates, Dynamo, spirometry and 3D Body Scan.

Offer

Three formats.

All three use the same equipment and the same app. What differs is the test scope, the depth of the analysis and whether we stay on afterwards.

Process

How a test day runs.

On the left the route for individual athletes, on the right the one for teams.

  1. 01

    Booking and initial call

Sport, profile, phase of the season and injury history. Ten minutes in an online meeting, so we choose the right protocol.

  2. 02

    Test day

Standardised warm-up, then the tests at the stations that tell us something about your profile. The Assessment always runs in a group, the Deep Dive always 1:1. We guide you through every station.

  3. 03

    Results in the app

The measured values are in the VYTA App almost live. The analysis, interpreted for your sport and profile, follows as soon as it is ready.

  4. 04

    Review session

We explain the reasoning behind the focus areas and what they mean for your training.

  5. 05

    Retest

Same protocol, second data point. You carry on alone or we take over the coaching.

The difference

What sets us apart from a fitness test at the gym.

The equipment is one thing. What matters more is what happens afterwards, and that next time is measured in exactly the same way.

Measuring precisely, not estimating
We work with professional measuring equipment such as ForceDecks, SmartSpeed and Dynamo. That lets us record performance objectively, not by gut feeling.
Comparable conditions
The same protocols, clear procedures and documented conditions make sure results still mean something at the next test.
Only measuring what is relevant
More data does not automatically mean more insight. We choose tests by the questions they answer and what they are worth for your training.
Clarity instead of a flood of data
You do not get an endless spreadsheet, but a clear interpretation of your strengths, your deficits and your most important areas for development.
Results that lead into training
The measured values turn into concrete priorities and recommendations. You know what to work on and how to check your progress later.
Making progress visible
A single test shows where you stand now. Repeated assessments show whether your training is actually having the effect you want.

Feedback

What athletes and coaches see with VYTA

Feedback from Assessments and Combines.

  • Combine
Before the Combine, we mainly had our own impressions. Afterwards we could see clearly for every player where she stands and what we need to work on specifically in pre-season. It was organised professionally and took very little effort on our side.

Team

Built by athletes. For athletes.

VYTA grew out of our own frustration: lots of training, little knowledge. We are building the testing we would have needed ourselves.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Anything not answered here, we usually answer by email the same day.

Who is VYTA for?

For anyone who takes their performance seriously: from ambitious recreational sport to elite sport. You do not need to bring a particular level. What matters is that you want to know where you stand instead of guessing.

Does the Assessment run in a group or individually?

The Performance Assessment always runs as a group or workshop session. The Performance Deep Dive is always an individual session, 1:1.

How long does an Assessment take?

The Performance Assessment takes around 90 to 120 minutes. The Performance Deep Dive, with endurance analysis and a detailed 3D Body Scan, takes about two hours.

Which tests will I do?

That depends on your sport and profile. We measure in the areas of strength, speed, explosiveness, change of direction, endurance and robustness. Within those, we choose the tests that tell us something about you. At the retest, exactly the same protocol runs again, otherwise the comparison would be worthless.

Do I get my results digitally?

Yes. The measured values are in the VYTA App almost live. The analysis with interpretation and focus areas follows as soon as it is ready. You can share the report with your coach, physio or club.

What happens after the testing?

You receive your strengths, your limitations and the focus areas in the order you should tackle them, each with the reasoning behind it. From there you choose: keep training on your own and come back later for a retest, or start Performance Coaching.

What does an Endurance Screening cost?

VO2max or lactate on its own costs 249 CHF, both combined 349 CHF. The Performance Deep Dive includes the endurance analysis; lactate testing costs an extra 100 CHF there. Endurance testing always takes place with us in Winterthur.

Can a whole team be tested?

Yes, that is our Combine format. It makes sense from around ten people and works for up to a hundred. Our largest test day so far had 65 people. Every person gets their own profile, and the coaching staff also receive a Team Report and Leaderboard.

What does a Combine cost?

The price depends on team size, test scope and location. After the briefing we send you a quote with a fixed day rate for the test day. That means no surprises. Send us the key details and you will have a figure within two working days.

Can VYTA come to our venue?

Yes. The equipment is mobile, and we set up the stations in your hall, on your pitch or in your weights room. What is needed depends on the protocol: a hard, level surface for the jumps, and for sprints ideally the surface you play on, or a hall. For endurance testing and the detailed 3D Body Scan, you come to us in Winterthur.

Ready to make performance visible?

One test session tells you more about your performance in a morning than three months of training by feel.
